Happy Eid!

This year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri – also known as Eid al-Fitr – falls on the 2nd & 3rd of May, commemorating the end of the Ramadan fasting month with family, food, and company.

Being a time to celebrate our ties to each other, this year’s Aidilfitri will be a happening one with family visits, open houses, and fun activities that were missed last year due to COVID. Though welcomed, it can be hectic as celebration preparations pick up as Hari Raya approaches. So, remind yourself of what you’re working towards to make going through the preparations easier.

Here are a couple of activities to look forward to with Hari Raya around the corner!

HEARTH AND HOME: Baking Raya Cookies & Cooking with Family

Baking and cooking are some of the best family activities to involve children in. Spending quality time with your kids in the kitchen helps sate their curiosity, encourages exploration and independence, and provides the opportunity to pass on family recipes to the younger generation. Children can start helping out with easy tasks at as young as 2-3 years of age, giving the chance to make cooking for Hari Raya a family tradition.

But can cooking with your kids be fun and safe?

The sight of your child standing precariously on a stool to reach the kitchen counter can be anxiety-inducing and worrying about them all the while doesn’t make for a fun experience.

A learning tower, like Lou Lou James® ALTA™, solves this issue by providing a safe way for children to reach countertops! Designed to be stable and sturdy, the ALTA™ has back and front railings to support your child as they stand or sit, giving parents the reassurance they need to cook and teach them in the kitchen worry-free.

FOOD ON THE TABLE: Breaking Fast

Hari Raya this year will be seeing many people balik kampung to visit family or hosting family at their own homes. A time for reunion and reconciliation, big family meals are often had during Raya to celebrate the end of the month-long abstinence during Ramadan. After all, good food, good company, and a comfortable home make the perfect combination for a good time.

Bring more to the table this Hari Raya with Lou Lou James®’ WABI SABI collection, a collection of handcrafted wooden tableware that embraces the beauty of nature’s imperfections. From cake stands to bowls and centerpiece dishes, the WABI SABI collection makes for an elegant yet humble table setting that highlights the food that brings the family together.
